How do I know about any changes?

How do we prove we are vaccinated when we arrive?

Both venues will use the Verifier App. Please make sure you have downloaded your Vaxx Passport to your phone. You can watch how the verifier works here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRIU7eQ20r4

What is this festival about?

It's an oasis of cool cinema for summer. We love the beach and being outdoors but we also love movies. In the Shade says let's do both. The festival was created for two reasons : (1) to fill the gap left by the cancellation of the NZ International Film Festival and (2) to help two cool independent venues greatly affected by the lockdown. Every dollar spent on tickets, beverages, candy will go a long way in helping them to get back on their feet.

When is this cheeky film festival happening?

Opening night is Jan 19 and then it runs through to Feb 2nd. There are some TBA sessions so keep an eye out for extra sessions. Follow us on Instagram for up to date action.

Where is this fun film festival taking place?

Two venues - The Hollywood in Avondale & The Academy Cinemas in CBD.

What's this garden bar I've been hearing about?

At our festival HQ, The Hollywood Avondale, we'll be serving up delectable beverages in our garden bar throughout the festival, creating the perfect spot to hang between films.

What films are you playing?

You can see all the films under the FILM area on the site. And you can check the SCHEDULE page which links to google calendar so you can make your own schedule. We might have a few late additions so always check our Instagram page for updates.

What is the pricing for tickets?

You can find this under PRICING on the site.

What time do films start?

They start right at their specified time. No boring commercials for crap you don't want or need. Don't come late. Films start at the designated time.

What type of seating is it?

Both venues will have allocated seating.

How can I volunteer for the festival?

We’re looking for a few cinephile volunteers to help deliver the 2022 film festival in Auckland. Click here to show interest.

What Covid safety protocols are in place?

ITS venues require proof of vaccination to ensure safety of patrons & staff. The venues are highly ventilated and staff are very aware of the cleaning protocols for all venue operating under the Traffic Light system.

Under RED, sessions are limited to 100 seats, socially distanced. Any ticket holders affected by traffic light changes will be contacted.

By entering a cinema or venue for a ITS screening, you agree to comply with the COVID-19 related requirements at the time. These requirements may vary from venue to venue and will be displayed at the venue. These requirements are to ensure the safety of patrons and staff alike.

ITS asks that you do not attend a ITS film screening if the following applies to you or any members of your group:

• You have COVID-19 or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test

• You are currently subject to a 14-day isolation period

• You are feeling unwell with symptoms associated with COVID-19

• You have come into close contact with any known or suspected case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
